Bluetooth Technical Operations

Bluetooth is a high speed, low powered wireless link
technology that's designed to connect phones or other
portable equipment together with little to no work
required by the user. Unlike infrared, Bluetooth
doesn't require line of site positioning to work.

Current bluetooth phones prototype circuits are contained on a board
that is 0.9 cm square, with a much smaller circuit
board being developed.

When one Bluetooth device comes in contact with
another, they will automatically exchange addresses
and details of capability. Then, they can establish
a 1 MB link with security that they will use as
required. The protocols involved with handle both
data and voice, with a very flexible topography.

The technology achieves its goal by embedding tiny,
non expensive short range tranceivers into the
devices available today. The radio operates bluetooth phones on the
2.45 GHz frequency band, and supports up to 721
KBps, along with three voice channels.

Each devices bluetooth offers a unique 48 bit address from
the bluetooth phones IEEE 802 standard, with the connections being
point to point or multipoint. The max range is
10 meters, although it can bluetooth headphones bluetooth headset be extended to 100
meters by increasing the power. The devices are
also protected from radio interference by changing
their frequencies, also known as frequency hopping.

What's important, is the fact that Bluetooth
devices won't drain battery life. The specification
targets power consumption of the device, limiting
the drain on the battery. The radio chip will
consume only 0.3mA in stand by mode, which is less
than 5% of the power that standard phones use.

Bluetooth will also guarantee security at the bit
level. The authentification is controlled by the
user via a 128 bit key. The radio signals can
be coded with anything up to 128 bit. With the
frequency hopping, Bluetooth is already very
hard to listen into.

The bluetooth phones baseband protocol is a combination of both
circuit and packet switches. Slots can be reserved
for synchronous packets as well. Each packet
will be transmitted in a different hop frequency.
Normally, a packet covers a single slot although
it can be extended to cover up to five slots.

Bluetooth can also support data channels of up to
three simultaneous voice channels. Therefore,
it's possible bluetooth phones bluetooth headset to transfer the data while you talk
at the same time. Each individual voice channel
will support 64 KB.

From a technical standpoint, Bluetooth is very
different indeed. It's the best wireless method
in the world, surpassing even infrared. For
communication on the go, Bluetooth is indeed
very hard to compete with.

Customer Review: Not a reliable device

Tomtom maps and application is not a reliable product that you can count on when you are traveling and do not have access to your PC and the disks. This is the second time that the application has stranded me and I am writing this review for others interested in purchasing this program not to get in a situation like I have, and Tomtom staff to read and fix the problem.

I purchased a Tomtom with an HP PDA to travel through Europe (mostly Italy). I installed the software and got an authentication code from the site they specified and started using the device. After about a month of use, and feeling confident that I did not need a paper map, we took a trip to Florence, following Tomtom's direction. After about 20 minutes, the program froze. It would not even respond to a soft reset. I had to take the battery out to get windows CE up and running. After the operating system restarted, I started Tomtom program. It asked me for an activation code. Have in mind that I am in the middle of Italian countryside and not sitting in Silicon Valley. I had to call my office and they went to my office and found the original CD's, went to the authentication site and got the activation code. I found this to be just unreasonably senseless. I appreciate copy right protection, but the people who thought of this scheme must not go out of the office much. I thought of writing a review but did not and latter forgot about it.

I recently bought a cell phone/PDA that has a built in GPS. To avoid having a phone and GPS I tried installing the European map on this phone (it already had the US maps on it). I went through the installation which took for ever and went to the website and got the activation code and tried entering it and it says that the activation code is not valid! So, I call Tomtom support in UK from Germany. The first customer service person was very nice and gave me some advice on how to get an update. I followed the advice and it still did not work. I called the support line again, this time a Mr. Rick answered. This person needs to be assigned to a different department. He basically spent 30 minutes lecturing me on software copy protection. He then asked me to do a hard reset. I told him I did not know how to do the hard reset. He spent another 10 minutes telling me that he is not an HP specialist and that I need to contact HP for support. At this point, I realized that this person was not able to help resolve the problem and asked for escalation to a supervisor. Rick (customer service rep) said that the supervisor would not take my call because I did not do what he was telling me to do (which was not exactly true, because I asked him to help me with the reset and he would not).

I got off the phone and went to the HP site and downloaded the user's manual and did a hard reset. This caused everything to be erased (including my addresses), and Tomtom program to be deleted. And guess what, I call the customer service number again, and they did not know what to do. So, they asked for more time to research the problem and to call me. In about 4 hours not having heard from them, I called again, and this time they told me to download another program that would resolve the problem. I downloaded and it did not solve the problem. I got an email a couple of hours latter telling me to use the original SD card (which is back home) to resolve the problem.

So, to make a long story short, this is not a reliable device and for anyone who has traveled in unknown places, it is a nightmare.

Customer Review: Waste of Money!

TomTom Software Review!

Pros: Being able to have it integrated on the Smart Phone or PDA.

Cons: Inaccurate Maps (we are talking miles not feet!), Difficult of use, cumbersome menus, lack of POI's, Wrong POI locations, crashes often and the list goes on....

Review:

This software should be labeled a beta software until the company works out all its problems, it should be never compared to Garmin or Magellan, I owned both and it does not even come close.

I will start with the pros since it will take the least time to mention.

Pros: Convenience of having a Navigation loaded on your phone, the GPS receiver can be left in the vehicle except when you are hiking for example.

Cons:

Maps:

The inaccuracy of the Maps are incredible and can lead you to a wrong place or miss a free way exit.

Maps are out dated; it did not show streets that have been updated on all map search engines 18 month prior.

You can not click and pan the maps to see the route ahead while on route.

Crashes often, about once every 2~3 days.

You would expect to be able to easily access your address book or contacts to navigate to a saved address; right? Not with TomTom, you have to exit the application and open another application called tomtom contacts there you can select a name and from the pull down click on navigate to address, it would then open the main navi software and show you the route, Oh but if for some reason you did not have your satellite locked yet, then you will have to exit out and do the same thing all over again! I think you agree that this is a bit cumbersome.

Sync

It gives data base errors of "WARNING: Possible database overwrite problem....", after contacting the customer service they said that it is a known problem! And nothing can be done???!!! So now every time I sync I have to ignore the warning message so other problems might go unnoticed thanks to the smart developers at TomTom.

POI (Points of Interest):

Again incomplete, inaccurate and difficult to use. For example if you are looking for a certain store and the search returns 6 and let us say the first 3 are approximately 3mi from where you are, you will not be able to select each one to further know more info - all you can do is pick one to get the directions to.

SD card:

Every time you insert the SD card into your PDA, the TomTom application will have start, and No, this is not an option you can turn off.

Customer Service:

Not very helpful, not knowledgeable about their products or offers and take long time to answer questions or concerns.

I am disappointed at the product which could have been an incredible for the convenience, I hope that the people involved in making decisions for the company go out and buy some different Navigation units and see how they can improve their product.

Thanks for your time reading my review!

I am so glad I bought this mouse. I read the other reviews and am following their advise to make sure I discount the mouse when I am not using it to save the battery life. Customer Review: Good for a while, but then it degraded

We bougth two of these. One of them quit working and, since it was still under warranty, we sent it in for a replacement. The "answer" button of the replacement quit working three months later. Wasn't sure Moto sent us a new or refurbished one. Anyway, we are out of luck because the warranty expired.

For the second one, it worked great for a year, then the mike really degraded. It was hard for the other caller to hear what we said into the mike. We were told that it sounded "muffled", but we couldn't figure out why.

We are now looking to buy two new bluetooth, a little more than a year after we owned them.

Utilizing the PhotoTrackr mapping software and latest Geo-Mapping technology, the CD110BT shows you the exact location where your pictures were taken and when they were taken. It also allows you to record and review your trip with GPS satellite precision. The most exciting feature of all is that you can upload your photos to flickrTM / locr online. It's a cool way to share your trip experience with friends and families.

CD110BT has voice cue available with the built-in speaker. Data tagging function is also available in this model for waypoint tagging and trip tagging.

Customer Review: multifunctional: geotagging and mapping

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3F5H05T2GPNN5 Works for standalone photo geotagging, plus interfaces with my Nokia N800 tablet for map navigation. 5 stars with the caveat that it is a bleeding-edge device. Bundled software has a nice feature set and interfaces with the major photo-sharing sites, but is a little unstable.

Has a small built-in speaker that says, "Satellites positioning", "Satellites locked", "Bluetooth on" and "Bluetooth off". The volume of the speaker can be adjusted or turned off. Green LED indicates power, red LED indicates satellite lock, blue LED indicates Bluetooth on.

Customer Review: Gadget

I have only used the GiSTEQ a few times. It works as a good tool for finding where you have been. The online maps are generally accurate until you are in a rural area, then you have to figure out the names of streets and locations from the local county maps. The road I live on has been here for years but it and many other roads in rural Alabama are incorrectly named. I wonder if the maps were drawn by an Auburn Grad?

Introduction To Bluetooth

Bluetooth was designed bluetooth headset to allow low bandwidth wireless
connections to become easy to use so even those who
are new to wireless can use them. Version 1.1 of
Bluetooth describes a low power, short range wireless
networking technology that uses radio waves to send
data at rates up to 720 kilobits a second.

The specification for Bluetooth provides for different
classes of radio that allow transmission ranges of
up to 100 meters by boosting the radio power. The
technology of Bluetooth isn't limited to line of
sight transmission bluetooth headphones since it uses directional waves
that are capable of transmitting through many
obstructions.

Bluetooth is an industry standard communication of
wireless, meaning that it enables the connection
of other devices as well, such as cell phones,
computers, digital cameras, and other types of
electronic devices. The specification of Bluetooth
defines a radio system and a "stack" of protocol
layers and profiles bluetooth phones. The highest layer is the
application layer, while the lowest layer is the
radio.

The wireless technology of Bluetooth is positioned
to revolutionize the personal connectivity market
by providing freedom from inconvenient fixed type
lines.

The specification for Bluetooth eliminates bluetooth headphones the need
for bluetooth phones bluetooth gps cables by providing a small form factor, low
cost wireless solution that will link computers,
cell phones, and other electronics. Bluetooth
also allows users to connect many ranges of devices
quickly and easily and expands communications
capabilities as well.

The size of the Bluetooth radio is amazing, as a
Bluetooth radio can be built into one or two very
small microchips then integrated into any electronic
device where wireless operations bluetooth wireless would be an
advantage.

Bluetooth also offers a robust link, which ensures
that normal operating circumstances are not
interrupted by interference from bluetooth phones other signals
that are operating bluetooth gps in the same frequency band.

Also known for its worldwide operation, Bluetooth
radio operates in the 2.4 GHz frequency band, which
is license free and available to any type of
radio system in the world. No matter where you
are in the world, you count on Bluetooth to work.

Security is also important. Offering advanced
security mechanisms, Bluetooth ensures a high level
of security. Therefore, authentification will
prevent unauthorized acess to important data and
make it very difficult to listen in.

Bluetooth also boasts power optimization. The radio
is power friendly and the software for Bluetooth
is very configurable, limiting the power consumption
of equipment. The radio itself only consumes a
small amount of power from a cellular phone.

I've had a liveboard since the start of baseball season. When I can't watch the game, for whatever reason, I liveboard it. I can keep tabs on what's going on with the game, all while watching other programs or even being in another room. Surprisingly, very little of the magic of watching an actual game is lost by viewing it on a liveboard. Apple Bluetooth Wireless Mighty Mouse
The Mighty Mouse Wireless Standalone Kit complements your Apple computer and makes controlling it a breeze. It's fully Bluetooth-enabled, letting you operate your Mac from anywhere in the room. Laser tracking lets you work without rollers or tracking mechanisms -- no more wearing out or clogging, no more mouse balls to fish out and clean. The entire top shell of the Wireless Mouse operates as a super-sensitive button - the body pivots up and down to actuate the click mechanism. The force-sensing side buttons give you added control, and the elliptical shape accommodates right and left-handed users equally. A miniature scroll ball on the top adds to the control, making it a pleasure to use.

Customer Review: Decent Bluetooth mouse, but not perfect

When I purchased my Macbook about a year ago, I was looking for a wireless mouse as a complement. I tried a Microsoft wireless notebook mouse and a Logitech VX revolution but ended up not using them. The main inconvenience with them was the USB dongle required to use them - not only does it use up a port but they were also susceptible to being bumped while moving around and possibly damaging the USB port (not good since the logic boards on Macbooks are very expensive to replace).

I settled with the Wireless Mighty Mouse. To keep it short, here are the pros and cons:

    Pros:

-Recognizes fairly quickly by the Macbook. Usually it will work right away on bootup. Sometimes after awaking from sleep mode, you have to click the mouse once to have it connect again.

-Scroll ball is responsive most of the time

-Interesting design - fits the aesthetic of the Macbook

    Cons

-As other reviewers mentioned, the scroll ball is susceptible to attracting dust and stop working. Although, it is fairly simple to clean by wiping it with a clean cloth and some alcohol.

-The side buttons are not easy to use. In order to use the side buttons, you have to squeeze the sides with a fair amount of force and it's not really intuitive. I would have much preferred independent click buttons that could be assignable.

-Battery life is only fair. The batteries that came with the mouse (Energizer Lithium) worked great and lasted for a few months of daily use, but normal alkaline batteries will last 4-6 weeks, on average.

    -Fairly expensive

At the time I bought it, this was really the only Bluetooth laser mouse option available, but since then new products have come out. If I were buying today, I would probably go with the Logitech Bluetooth laser mouse.

Customer Review: Mouse with no tail - ideal for Mac laptops

Have used for over a year with our MacBook - like it a lot. Nice to be able to right-click ('course other mice will do that) but in addition the MM will access a lot of features on OSX. Quality and sensitivity excellent. I like the 360 degree scrolling. Good battery life, can use one or two batteries. A little pricey; however, after using it for the past year and comparing it to other mice we've had, I'd say it was worth it. As with everything Apple, feel and finish are excellent. Wish it came in black to match the MacBook!

Customer Review: Not for long nails!

I just got this a few days ago for my birthday. It's OK but I'm definitely not impressed.

The power button is quite hard to push and if you got long nails, watch out!

The answer button is also very hard to push and sometimes I had to press it so hard it hurt my ears.

The ear-bud fits securely and was comfortable at first but after about an hour my ear started hurting from it. I have fairly small ears so that might be the "problem".It would be great if it came with a few different kind of ear buds for different type/size ears.

    The sound quality is OK.

The mini USB is great, that was my favorite in all.

Customer Review: Excellent design for the mobile traveler

Motorola gets high points for all the factors that mobile users - especially those of us that travel - care about.

    1. Quality of build. This is a well built device - its solid and will take a beating. The ear grip stays fixed and the buttons are all well made.

    2. Sound Quality. For a headset without noise cancellation, the 371 works superbly. Great incoming (speaker) and outgoing (mic) audio.

    3. Usability. Very easy to use. big button for starting and stopping calls and smaller, separate buttons for volume and power.

    4. Battery life. Seems to carry me for at least two good hours of talk time every day. Charges quite fast.

    5. Traveler friendly. The USB charger port - built right onto the device - means I can use my Blackberry charger to charge this device. One less charger to lug around and one standard charger to use for everything.

    6. Price Point. The low price point means you get excellent value and don't get outrageously upset if you lose it ;-) [Bluetooth headsets are quite easy to misplace - especially when you're on the go]

    7. Lightweight. Last but not least, the device feels very comfortable and light on the ear all day long if necessary. It sits well and you almost forget its there.

In summary - this is an excellent all around headset for those of us on the go.
